Create & Take: In a Spin

Hi bloggers, we have a fantastic Create & Take to share with you this week featuring the brand new Tim Holtz Mini Cats & Dogs stamp set. This card only featured the dogs but you could easily add both cats and dogs to this card. We've also featured the new Nellie Snellen Spinner Card die set to create some movement in your cards.

Bazzill Basics Coconut Swirl Cardstock

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of Authentique paper to measure 6" x 4.5" and die cut the spinner die into the card.

2. Stamp 2 dogs and a parcel onto white card and colour with pencils. Cut around the dogs.

3. Punch out two circles from cream cardstock and adhere the dogs to the circles using 3D foam pads.

4. Cut a piece of Maja paper to measure 1" x 3.5" and trim to a point on one end. Cut around the square of mirri card to create a faux buckle.

5. Use double sided foam around the edge of the brown paper, you need to make it double thickness so that the spinner moves along the gap with ease.

6. Sandwich two 1p coin pieces into the channel of the spinner using a round 3D foam pad and then stick the parcel on the top. The parcel should now move across the channel.

7. Stick the red card and silver buckle in place on the right side of the card and decorate with dot peel off stickers.

8. Decorate the inside of the card with a sentiment stamp from the Woodware stamp set and also some of the stars.

Bazzill Basics cardstock in Blue, Cream and Kraft

Authentique Durable Cardstock - Reliable Ticking Stripe/ Muted Mini Dot

Instructions:

1. Die cut the Diorama from blue cardstock and fold to create a gatefold card.

2. Cut a piece of cream cardstock to measure 4 x 4 inches and stencil some dots on top left and bottom right on the cardstock using blue ink and a sponge dauber.

3. Stamp the cat, fish bone, ball of wool and wording with black ink and colour with pencils.

4. Stamp the parcel and hat on separate card, colour and cut around and stick in place.

5. Cut a piece of Kraft cardstock to measure 4.5 x 4.5 inches (or use die in Diorama die set) and stick this inside the card. Stick the stamped piece of cardstock on top.

6. Cut two pieces of spotted paper using the dies from the Diorama die set and stick to the front of the card.

7. Die cut ornate piece from Diorama die set from cream cardstock and stick to one side of the front of the card. Die cut a scalloped circle and smaller circle, add a stamped sentiment and stick on top.

8. Finish by accenting the card with some Stickles glitter glue.

Gatefold cards make a great change from the usual card blanks and this Diorama Gatefold card die set from Sizzix is an excellent set that includes all the extra die pieces you need to complete your card.

Ink it Up with Tim Holtz Yupo Paper

Hi bloggers, today we are looking back at Charry's Ink It Up class from last week using Tim Holtz's new Yupo paper. Yupo paper is a versatile surface especially suited for alcohol ink and mixed media techniques. This smooth, synthetic surface is 86lb heavyweight that resists buckling and dries quickly.

In the 2 hour class Charry encouraged everyone to experiment with using the alcohol inks with the Yupo paper to practise creating patterns before working on some backgrounds to use on a card.

The backgrounds can be anything from geometric patterns and shapes to creating beautiful landscapes.

Ink It Up Sneak Peeks

Today on the blog we want to share with you a few sneak peeks of Charry's upcoming Ink It Up class on Wednesday 24th February. Charry has been having a play with Tim Holtz Yupo paper and some alcohol inks to give you an idea of the type of fun you will be having next week if you come along on the class.

Charry will be sharing some great tips and techniques for making these fantastic backgrounds which you can use on cards or even incorporate into mixed media journals and more.

Create & Take: Crazy Bird Halloween & Christmas

Hi Bloggers, today we want to share with you a Crazy Bird create and take with a choice of two themes. If you love Halloween then you will love our Crazy Bird Halloween card with a witches hat and broom. Or if you don't scare easily then maybe try your hand at our Crazy Bird Christmas card.

So let's get started....

Instructions:

1. Stamp a Crazy Bird onto patterned paper and die cut using the matching die. Stamp eyes onto white card and die cut. Use vintage photo distress ink to add colour to the tail, wings and edges of the bird.

2. Cut a circle from silver glitter card and cut half of the circle away to create a moon shape.

For Halloween Card....

3. Using a sponge dauber, swipe some Carved Pumpkin distress ink around the edges of the background paper.

4. Stamp the witches hat and broom onto white cardstock, colour with pencils and die cut. Assemble on the card as shown.

5. Use Twisted Citron and Wilted Violet to stamp some stars and add pen lines around the edge of the card. Finish by stamping a Halloween greeting.

For Christmas Card....

3. Using a sponge dauber, swipe some Mermaid Lagoon distress ink around the edges of the background paper. Stamp the snowflakes onto background paper using Mermaid Lagoon ink.

4. Stamp Christmas hat and candy cane onto white card, colour with pencils and die cut.

5. Assemble card as shown and finish by stamping a Christmas greeting.

Adding accessories to these Crazy Birds really makes them come to life and its so much fun playing around with the accessories for different themes and occasions.
